0.1 to 0.2% for oral preparations
0.1 to 5% of the total weight of your cosmetic preparations for local application to the body for an "ice cube" effect.
Note: It is advisable to grind menthol crystals slightly in a mortar to facilitate their solubilization and to be more precise in the dosage before including them in your preparation.
Conversion and equivalence :
How to correctly calculate the weight of menthol crystals to include in your recipe according to your needs:
[Poids des cristaux de menthol] = [X%] x [poids total de votre préparation] / 100
For example, if you wish to include 3% menthol crystals in a 50 g preparation, here's the formula to apply:
Weight of menthol crystals = 3 x 50 / 100 = 1.5 g
Properties :
Decongests the respiratory tract: Mint crystals help to "unblock" the nose through the fumigation/inhalation process.
Analgesic, painkiller: relieves localized pain, blows, bumps and bruises.
Mint crystals, mixed in a little ointment, help soothe itchy skin.
Relieves headaches: apply locally to the temples (be careful not to apply too close to the eyes)
Freshens breath, masks unpleasant odors
Improves skin penetration of other active ingredients, notably essential oils, when used to make cosmetics and "homemade" skin care products.
Caution: depending on individual sensitivity, the "ice cube" effect may be felt as more or less powerful. Always test the effect on a small area before using more widely. High doses should be reserved for localized treatments (sore spots, itching, feet, legs). Do not apply to large areas of the body. Do not use on damaged skin (burns, wounds, eczema, etc.).
