Tibetan incense holder

This incense holder made by Tibetan craftsmen is a unique and very decorative piece. It is made of dark red stained wood, on which some of the auspicious signs are carefully cut and painted in bright colors.

The incense is burned inside the box; it is placed on a bed of sand while the reserve of sticks is stored in the compartment provided for this purpose.


These emblems or auspicious signs are declined under all kinds of expressions: shaped in precious jewels, carved in pieces of wood, printed on Nepali Lokta paper, embroidered on silk or painted on precious hangings, hammered and reproduced in simple decoration on objects of everyday life or on instruments of worship.
