Lavender is one of the oldest aromatic heritages in our culture. It has many qualities: soothing, sedative, antidepressant, antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and hypotensive. Today, lavender is used in much the same way as it was centuries ago. However, lavender suffers from massive and less noble competition: lavandin and synthetic perfumes. Lavender still grows wild in the foothills of southern France, and in this book we invite you to discover its specific characteristics, its cultivation and the many uses we can benefit from. Aymeric Lazarin became interested in ecology and biodiversity at a very early age. After graduating in agronomy and geography, he went on to work at Cemagref, as part of a team studying the use of plants in the fight against natural risks linked to erosion. Today, he teaches agronomy and continues to be interested in the use of plants to solve the problems faced by contemporary societies.
