Italian Helichrysum is a Mediterranean perennial that grows on sandy soils; in France, it is found in the southeast (where it is protected, as it is quite rare) and especially in Corsica. This 25 to 50 cm-high herb bears numerous silvery-gray, tapering leaves with a strong curry scent, and clusters of small yellow flowers (capitula) arranged in a corymb at the top of the plant. The fruits are brown achenes with a aigrette.
Use: External use as a poultice or compress.
Contraindications: For external use only. Method of preparation: Infuse for 10-15 min. at a rate of 1 tablespoon per cup. Strain.
